Today, I went for a walk through the park with my precious roommate. Why do I insist on trying to capture the autumnal beauty with a cell phone camera when it doesn't do it justice? Fail. But it is better than nothing.

Somebody, please - when all these falling leaves have fallen, remind me... remind me not to despair or to forsake hope. Remind me of the beauty of the sun coursing through the variegated shades of red, orange, yellow, flame, fierce love, intense joy, and pure hope. Remind me of life in the midst of winter's blank, silent gaze.

Autumn

my run today turned into an awed, leisurely stroll. i love going to the park, but i guess i hadn't been in a while, so today i was completely surprised when i reached wyman park dell and was suddenly surrounded by golden, flaming beauty. (the photos hardly do it justice.)

moments like these, especially when they catch us by surprise, are so refreshing. moments of beauty -- breathtaking, surprising beauty that stops us in our tracks -- cause us to lurch out of our normal, preoccupied state, suddenly reminding us of all things forgotten.

Give thanks to Yahweh, call on his name;

make known among the nations what he has done.

Sing to him, sing praise to him;

tell of all his wonderful acts.

Glory in his holy name;

let the hearts of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.

weekend

Well, school is overwhelming and doesn't stop. It just doesn't stop. The sand just keeps passing through the hourglass, coming down, coming down. I'm tackling just one thing at a time instead of everything all at once like I need to be. I feel continually behind yet unable to proceed. I need a break!!! gah.

I spent the weekend with my good-lookin boyfriend. He cooked delicious food all weekend. (See photo of said hottiecakes.) Big breakfast, fondue for dinner, chocolate cake from scratch... he's pretty much amazing.

Also got to catch up a bit with my bff. Enjoyed some outdoor time in the beautiful fall weather. Took an unplanned day off.

We've both got the incurable desire to go on another road trip (as observed below), so we're definitely looking forward to a planned day off coming up too. (If things go as planned, which sometimes they don't.)
