last night i should have been tired but just couldn't fall asleep - an incredibly rare thing for me - so i started composing some tunes on the guitar. love songs, of course... mostly about my cat. now i'm sure you're saying, "that's so [uncool]." (substitute the words "crazy," "lame," "lonely," etc.) well not in my case. while i have heard myself described as "different," really i am just that cool. as is my cat.
today i met a new friend over coffee. (a human friend even! not feline.) it is quite a pleasure to find people i feel like i'm already friends with; people i like before i even know i should. that's what it was like today.

hmmm. i wonder... shouldn't "falling in love" be like that? (clarification: not talking about my cat anymore.) falling in love, whatever exactly that means, i should think might feel something like finding the friend you didn't know you were without. like buying a new shirt that has always belonged in your closet. like hearing a song for the first time and knowing that it has always been your favorite.

i posted this while i was first falling in love with my love, which i continue to do now over and over, happily, just like wearing my favorite shirt again and again. sometimes the shirt feels faded and wrinkledy, but it's still my favorite, and it would take a lot for me to give up on my favorite shirt.
